The Year of Compassion
Towards the end of last year I had some conversations with colleagues about what I wanted 2025 to be about… I found myself saying, “it will be the year of compassion”.
I have been using compassion focussed approaches in my work as a psychologist for about five years. I have also previously written about how my link to compassion is much older, going back to my childhood. So, what will make 2025 different?
This is the year that I explicitly work to help other Educational Psychologists to consider their role through the lens of compassion. This feels like an excitingly clear mission, but also a daunting adventure. As I have said, “EP’s are compassion in practice”, but the research base has been used most in the health sector, so there is a lot of work to do. As a first step, 2025 kicks off with two workshops for Educational Psychologists: an introductory session in February and a session on supervision skills in April.
The Year of Compassion will continue with offerings for Educational Psychologist supervision groups and by building on work with the Compassionate Parenting course… so let me know if this sounds exciting to you, or if you know someone who might like to talk about them.
For now, I will leave you with the flyer for the introductory CPD workshop in February, so you can share it with people who might be interested… We have a wonderful group signed up and there are only two weeks to book a place!
Thanks team.
